Arkansas City, Kan, July 17.—The annual green corn dance of the Ponca Indians began Sunday on the 101 ranch, which ts located on their reservation. The green corn dance is the only re- ligious or thanksgiving ceremony the Penca Indians celebrate. It is al Ways given at the time the green corn is ripening and, during the progress of the dance, the Indians return thanks to the great spirit for the crop. This year, there are many Indians from other tribes visiting with the Poncas, The latter have allotted their lands, and this is believed to be the last time they will hold this dance.
