Jefferson City, Feb. 25.—The final report of the world’s fair commission was filed with Governor Folk to-day by M. T. Davis, president of thecom- mittee. The report consists of 500 typewritten pages. It contains 100,- 000 words and figures. It would re- quire an expert accountant a month to make an intclligent recapitulation of the report. Mr. Davis said today that he be- lieved that the Missouri building had been run economically. He stated that it had cost the commission $25,000 for entertainments. This included the purchase of hundreds of American Beauty roses with which to adorn the wives of thecommissioners, music and other things which go to make up social functions. Mr. Dayis said that whiskey, beer and other in- toxleants for the bar or, rather “buffet,” were not charged to the State, although cigars, apollinaris water, ginger ale and other soft drinks were patd for by the state. This expense of $25,000 for enter- tainment is considered cheap by Mr. Davis. To strongtlen this point, he related a co..versation with Presi dent Francis sbout thisiterh, When told of the entertainment expendi. ture, Mr. Davis said that President Francis exclaimed: “Why, Mr. Davis your bookkeeper ust have made a mistake. Did he not forget to place a ‘one’ infront of the ‘twenty-five’? I don’t see how you got along with- out spending $125,000.” In the report is an item of $110 ior cologne or perfumery. Mr. Davis sald this expenditure was necessary in order to pour the cologne into the |fountain, that the atmosphere about the bullding might have a different odor than that given out by the fountain. Mr. Davis also sald re- garding the disappearance of the valuable steins and German pipes from the German room, that these were taken from time to time evi- dently by “souvenir hunters.” He denied that several commissioners and thelr wives and attendants had practically looted the room two weeks before the burning of the building.
