Towa Falls, Io., Sept. 12.—Educa- tors will be interested in knowing that the famous “Ida Grove Plan of Self Goverment in Schools” is to be abandoned by the school that sprung the new tdea on the public but a few months ago. Superintendent Voel ker, who is at the head of the institu tion that firat adopted the unique plan of self-government in theschoo'- room, still maintains that his idear will bring about the ideal condition in the schoolroom, if encouraged and worked out by the schools of the country. But he feels that the people are not ready for his advanced ideas. Since the plan has been so strongly con- demned by the supporters of his school the plan will be abandoned in favor of the old-style method. The superintendent maintains that the public will never succeed unless he ac quires self knowledge, self-respect and self-control, and he maintuins that these are secured by the pupil rather than by the teacher or government. 21 Years a Dyspeptic.
