C., Dec. 2.—Sen- ator Stewart, of Nevada, who arrived in Washington to-day, saya the pec- ple of the Pacific coast generally favor the ratification of the Hawaiian annexation treaty. He expressed the opinion that the treaty would not consume a great deal of time in the senate. He esid that, so far as he knew. Senator White, of Ualifor nia, was the only Pacific coast sena- tor pronouncedly against the treaty. Senator Gray, who isa member of the committes on foreign relations, said, in reply toa question, that he thought there would be considerable delay in disposing of the treaty; as many questiors are involved which will require careful consideration and lead to considerable debate.
