Joseph at tacked his aged father with a stick and beat him to death. Having killed him, he took a rock and beat bis head into a mags, then went to the citizena in the business part of the town and reported the affair. He was arrested and detained while proceedings were conducted and afterwards brought here to the county seat and placed in jail. Clawson Hanged Somerville, N. J., May 12.—Elmer Clawson was hanged here to day io the Somerset county jail. He was 19 years old and shot a former em- ployer, Harry Hodgett, a farmer, on the raorniog of August 29 last The murderer asked Hodgett to re-sm ploy him and on the farmer's refusal to do so a quarrel began. during which Clawson drew a revolver and fired three shots at his victim. Then mounting a wheel the murderer rode away. Clawson has since his convic tion professed contrition for his crim and recently, at his request, was baptized into the Methodist Episcopal church. Columbia, Mo., May 13.—Whi'e playing on the bank of Cedar Creek, this county, Roy Anderson, 9 years old fell into the water and was drowned.
