Escape.—Rabi and Garcia Combine Forces in the Undoing of Gen, Near } Lone, Bayamo. New York, May 13 —The advices} of the New York Herald states that news of the most important insur- gent success in months has just reached Havana. Gen. Calixto Garcia and Gen. Rabi fell on a Spanish} force which wa3 carrying food and supplies from Manzauilla to Bayamo early last week, captured the convoy, routed Gen. Lonos columns and pur- sued him s0 vigorousiy that he fled to the coast. This engagement is regarded by Cubans as more import- ant than any battle since Cacari jicara. The Spanish commander with the retreating main body was harassed for 10 miles. He decided to abandon the regular road back to Manzanillo, fearing he would be intercepted, as Gen. Ruiz had been a few days be- fore. The victorious Cubans were in the road to Bayamo, his provi- sions were lost and his men were practically without food. The only way he saw to save the remnant of his forces was to make for the coast at a point many miles from Manza- nillo. He marched nearly 40 miles, reached Cape Cruz and a passenger steamer was pressed into cervice and carried the despondent soldiers back to Manzanillo Don't think because you are sick and nothiog seems to give you re lief that you can’t be cured.
