Mrs O M Drysdale has purchased a horse, ins sold a pair of mules to Al Lindsey, 6 miles south of Hume. A young lady wants a young man to take her around occasionally ina buggy, she is tired of the gray and black horse; he must not chew or smoke or goto a saloon or gambling dive, and will not be ashamed to walk with his mother-in-law to church. Por name call on Aaron. Three of D C Wolfe’s children and Fred Drysdale have the chicken pox. John Durrett and his brother Chas came to Bates county in 1870 from Lewis County, Mo. Their father was born in Virginia in 1807, and died in Lewis, Mo., Feb. °96, aged 96 years. The two brothers worked together till ’85, when they divided their prop- erty each having a good farm. Chas died in 1887. In 1872 John married an amiable daughter of G B Hickman of Butler. Inthe spring of °95 he sold his farm to Lord Scully and pur- chased one near Lee Summit, Jack- son county, where he moved last week. While the community here has lost a good citizen and neighbor the Christian church and Sabbath school have lost a faithful worker. He has been an officer in the church fora number of years.
