The robbers left but forty cents in cash in the bank. The thieves retreated by a back door, compelling their captives to accompany thein part way. They es- eaped into a marsh. Subsequentiy they exchanged shots with a dozen men who caught sight of them, but finally escaped. A posse is now scouring the surrounding country for them. The thieves were each between 25 and 30 years of age. All were dark complexioned, and each wore 2 mus tache. They did not wear masks. The trio slept at 2 hotel in Forest City April 20. Their presence in the town at the time excited suspi- cion. Many robberies have taken place inthat part of the country within the last few months, and it is be- lieved that the most of them traceable to this gang. are Conetetlow Ss Maiden, who is— “Standing, with reluctant feet, Where the brook and river meet Womanhood and _ childhood fleet”! is a type of thousands of young girls who are emerging from the chrisalis stage of their existence, as they en- ter upon their “teens.” Nervous, excitable, irritable, stirred by strange unknowable forces within them, each a mystery unto hersilf, our girls need the tenderest care, the most loving, patient oversight, and the aid of Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Pre- scription, to safely carry them through this critical period, during which, in too many lives, alas, are sown the seeds of distressing forms of diseases peculiar to the female sex. But this boon to womankind will prevent all such diseases, or cure them if the have already seized a victim. Woman owes it to herself to her family, and to her social sta- tion, to be well and strong. Let her then not neglect the sure means of cure. “Favorite Prescription,” is a legitimate medicine, carefully com- pounded by an experienced and skillful physician, and adapted to a woman’s delicate organization. It is purely vegetable in its composition and perfectly harmles in its effects in any condition of the system. Mr. N. G. A. Frederick T. Roberts, M. D., Phy- sicgjan to and Professor of Clinical Medicine at University College Hos- pital, London, Eng., says: “Bright's Disease has no symptoms of its own, and may long exist without the knowledge of the patient or practi- tioner, as no pain will be felt in the kidneys or that vicinity.” This ac- counts for many people dying with Bright’s Disease, or advanced kid ney malady. The disease is not sus- pected until it reaches a fatal period. If Warner’s Safe Cure is used at the proper time, the fatality from that disease would be greatly decreased. Dr. Thompson also says: ‘‘More adults are carried off in this country by chronic kidney disease than by any other malady except consump- tion.” 4 Shocking Disaster. Kalamazoo, Mich., May 8.—The most shocking accident in the histo ry of this city occurred about 6:30 o'clock this evening, at West Main street crossing of the Michigan Cen- tral Railroad. A street car contain- ing eight ladies and two men was struck by aswitch engine while at- tempting to cross the track, and six of the ladies were instantly killed. The engine was running at a high rate of speed, and the helpless pas sengers were hurled to a terrible death in an instant, before they re- alized that danger was upon them. The remnants of the street car were carried nearly two block, and both horses were killed. As soon as the engine could be stopped the engineer and fireman ran back to the crossing. A great crowd soon gathered. The bodies of the victims were strewn along the track and frightfully mangled. Two were lying in the cattle one in the creek near, two on track and one in the ditch. guard, ihe Is Neuralgia Kiling You by Inche Ii vou are a sufferer from this excr tiating painful disease, or if you + Sick Headache, Sore Throat, L Back, Frosted Feet. The remedy is sold by all druggists at only 50 cents. It is mild, sooth- ing, cleansing, deodorizing, antisep- tic and healing. Quay, Dudley and Clarkson have gone South to fix polities and prom- ise offices. This trip is significant. It means that Dudley, ostensibly barred from the White House, is still the confidential manipulator of things of doubtful character, w strengthen the great beneficiary of his work; that Quay, alleged to be ! disgusted, is playing the cards to capture strategic points, {and the two are advising Clarkson where he can plant office-holders to the best advantage, while Harrison and Wan- aker are moralizing over civil ¢ reform at home.
