The cutting took place in the store of Mr. Levy about seven o’clock in the evening and occurred about as follows: ‘You see,” Mr. Leyy, ‘I hag just received my spring stock of goods which is by tarthe largest and most complete! have ever opened up in the city and being busily engaged in breaking open boxes and making room for my elegant line of said DRESS GooDs, which 1s by far the most elegant and handsome ever betore placed on sale in my store and which embrace all the very latest and most fashion- able shades, colors and grades of this variety of goods to be found in the east. After I had attended to this matter and stepped over to the counter where the boys were busy storing away the’ finest assortment of SILKS AND VELVETS you ever Jaid your eyes on, and the largest variety I have ever handled, embracing all the newest and most tashionable styles and delicate shades, my attention was called to the fact that we were outot room to stow away thelarge line ot WASH oBons which I had purchased for this mar- ket, and you just tell the ladies that nothing like it was ever seen in But- ler and they should call without de- lay and make their purchases as they will go fast, and while they are in the store T want them to take time to look at the most elegant line of LACES AND EMBROIDERY that I have ever handled, and I know they will agree with us in saying they are beautiful, and while they are in the store looking at the laces and embroidery, I want them to hke- wise inspect the HOSIERY DEPARTMENT, which is beyond doubt the largest stock and most varied variety I have had.in the house. After inspecting these goods 1 then want them to call at the KID GLOVE counter and we will show them something that never met ther eye before in this town. If you think you do not want kid gloves we will justask you to take another step and investigate our SILK GLOVES ‘| which you will find complete in all shade and styles and very cheap. If it is not gloves you want we will next ask you to walk up stairs and take a peep at our MILLINERY DEPARTMENT which just takes the lead of anything in Southwest Missouri, and imme- diately captivates the most tasty and fastidious. In this department we have spared aothing to make it com- plete in every Particular, and place at your command the most superb line of hats, bonnets and trimmings you ever saw. Now Mr. reporter, I will say to you, that while we were up to our eyes in work getting our goods in shape, Hi Price, who 1s a mortal enemy of mine, stepped in and wanted to dictate to me howI should mark my new spring stock and after afew words with him I just drew my kmfe and cut him all to pieces and hencetorth propose to let goods go at sacrifice for cash. Tell the people to come and I will make them happy with the grandest bar- gains they ever had offered in this city. Remember the new spring goods have just heen opened and those that come first get the pick. Frax Seep and all kinds of Grass Seeds at 14-3t BENNETT, WHEELER & Co. To be Punished After All. Frankfort, Ky., March 31.—The court of appeals to-day overruled the petition for a hearing in the case against John J. Corneilson.
