Feb. 6.—A number ot the Sheritts ot the State men here to-day te take action upen the bill now pending betore the Leg- islature, regulating Sheriff’s fees. About twenty-five were present, and a pleasant meeting was had. Sher- iff Wagner, of Cole, was chosen chairman, and Sheriff Howard, of j Morgan, secretary. Oniy one change in the bill was recommended, allowing five cents mileage in civil as well as criminal cases, and a committee was appoint- ed to lay the same before the Legis- lature. He also shipped a lot ot hogs at the same time. John Harshaw is teeding 40 head of beef cattle and a number of hogs for the spring market. Vanhoy & Reece. are alse feed- ing cattle and hogs. Bob Victor, is feeding a bunch of cattle, having sold his hogs. a few days since tor six cents. The Fry brothers are feeding « lot ot cattle which they have re- fused 5 cts for. There appears to be a greater de- mand just now fer hogs than cattle. Almost any kind of hogs will bring 6 cents any day. Since eur letter last week. we have had some very cold weather in this section, and puts a sort of a stop tv things generally. Several parties from this neigh- berhood will start fer Washington Territory overland as soon as spring opens. Mr. F. Kellar, has. rented the’ Donovan farm lately occupied by Mr. Macy. The tarm centains 600 acres for which Mr. K., pays $1,600. Miss Hattie Gray celebrated her 18th birthday en the 6th, by giving a few ot her select triends a party and supper.
