|A. L. McBRIDE. & CO. le Voting in U: The apathy of female voters in| those regions where they are invest ed with the suffrage contrasts strongly with the fervid enthusiasm of those advocates of reform who | are endeavoring to secure its adop- | tion in other quarters. In Utah women are alowed to vote: it a Marmon device to increase their voting stren}th and prevent a threat- ened Gentile ascendency. But the Utah women are averse to voting. : ‘the Mormon ladies, in the recent j election, turned out pretty well, and made a show of strength, butit was | only because their religion was me- naced by the proceedings under the Edmunds law. The Gentile ladies | took little interest in the election. | Few of them wentto the polls. | Vehicles were sent to their residen- cesto convey them to the voting } places and back to their homes; but, notwithstanding this, few ot them ventured out. A New York Trib- une correspondent says; “The { Gentile ladies not only take little in- ; terest in voting but really detest it; i while the Mormon ladies vote only | because they think it a church dutv. Were political principles at stake in- stead of a religious creed woman suffrage would soon prove a faslure in Utah. It is a curiops illustration of the weaker sex’s way of looking at things | that so many females ballots should be cast tor polygamy and so few cast agaist it, even by those who are opposed to it.-—Republican. | | } | i Benton county 1s better supplied with forests than any other coynty : ‘ sd é in ‘southwestern Missouri. The dverage value of land in Jackson county is less than $15 per acre. The average value of the corn crop at present pricef is $20 per acre, and of the wheat crop $21 per} acre. { Tutt’s Pills are now covered with a van- ja sugar coating, making them as pleas- nt to swallow as a little sugar plum, and endering them agreeable to the most delicate stomach.
