Gustav Egloff, J. C. Morrell and E. F. Nelson, all of Universal oil products company, Chicago, outlined the process in a paper before the American Petroleum institute's division of production. The gasoline, they stated, could be obtained by polymerizing gases released in “cracking” THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1937 Blames Anti-Freeze crude oil to produce motor fuel. The polymerization process, they added, is almost the reverse of cracking, converting gaseous into liquid hydrocarbons of greater value, whereas cracking involves the conversion of “heavier hydro- carbons into lighter ones of greater value.” The higher the anti-knock quality of the cracked fuel pro- duced, the paper pointed out, the larger the quantity of gases avail- able for making superior gaso- lines under the process of putting together in rearranged form the gaseous portions of cracked petro- leum. Finds Sentiment for Judicial Amendment Washington, Nov. 12.—(?)—Senator Ashurst (D., Ariz.) said Friday there seemed to be wide sentiment for a constitutional amendment permitting federal judges to retire at 70, with full pay, and forcing their retirement at 15. The amendment would not be ret- roactive in effect, he said, thus elim- inating any possible attempt to change the personnel of the present supreme court.
