S. and England Bror Together Can ‘Face Rest of World With Assurance’ By DeWITT MacKENZIE New York, Oct. 7.—President Roo- wevelt’s peace speech at Chicago may ffind @ place in history as one of the great individual contributions of this generation to world amity, coming as at does at the time of a crisis which as threatening many nations. Everything cepends, of course, on ‘the manner in which Mr. Roosevelt’s words are backed up. Certainly he didn’t make this sen- sational speech merely to reiterate that graphic three word sentence, “I hate war.” It could scarcely be an ‘empty gesture. One thing emerges fairly clear— ‘the president in effect has assumed | f tthe leadership among eran statesmen in the campaign against war. A person may ke- come allergic to something he has eaten for many years without trouble. The common idea that this sensitiveness to food is the effect of imagination is a mistake, Dr. Alvarez said. He cited cases of persons becoming dangerously ill after eating a minute amount of food to which they were allergic, concealed without their knowl- edge in some tasty dish.
