John Oliver, retiring state consul, presided at the meetings, which opened with an address of welcome by Mayor Obert Olson of Bismarck. Bernard Kelber, Ashley, responded in behalf of the visiting delegates to Olson’s remarks, A resolution, commending P. J. Murphy of Grafton, former Walsh county senator, for his “character, sound judgment and fair dealings in 27 years as state Woodmen’s man- ager,” was adopted. Murphy was pre- sented with a vase of flowers. He had been state manager since 1909 and was succeeded last fall by C. R./ Hasskarl, Fargo, in the Grand Pacific hotel Wednes- day evening which opened the ses- sion, and at which Murphy was hon- ored. Owner Recovers Pony Following Broadcast Recovery of a horse said to have been stolen in late April was credited tc a radio broadcast this week by Roy Small, the owner, after the ani- mal was discovered on a farm near Mandan. Emil Boehm, farmer living four miles south of Mandan, heard the broadcast and notified authorities that a pony fitting the description had strayed to his farm, after which Small, who lives nine miles southeast of Bismarck, was notified.
