a HIT-RATING GIVEN PLAYERS’ COMEDY ‘BY LARGE AUDIENCE Repeated Again Friday in City Auditorium ‘ “Three Cornered Moon”. billed in advance as a hilarious comedy and as one of the best Community Players’ Productions to date disappointed in Neither respect the audience assem- bled in the city auditorium Thursday night for the first peformance of a two-day run. It is a pleasure to report that the audience was one of the biggest ever on hand for ‘a Players’ opening. The warmth and enthusiasm with which the members applauded bespoke in unmistakable terms the successful manner which the cast of nine, five of them new to local theatergoers, Projected the Gertrude Tokonogy ¢ .; Friday's curtain at 8:15 p. m., should rise upon a filled house. ‘Mrs. Peterson Stars Martha Peterson and John Hielle in the roles of Elizabeth and Kenneth Rimpelgar were two of the newcom- ers who scored hits and whose next @ppearances will be eagerly antic- ipated. Mrs. Peterson's portrayal of @ sophisticated but puzzled young modern bordered on the professional. Hfelle, before the footlights for the first, time since his high school days at Mercer, played with naturalness and assurance, Anita Peterson, veteran in the Play- ers’ ranks, carried more than credit- ably the difficult: character role of Mrs. Rimplegar, distracted mother of a family of irresponsible college grad- uates trying to recoup by hard and unaccustomed work the family fortune which she had invested unwisely. Clough Well Cast Mervin Olough’s sympathetic crea- tion of the role of Donald, sensitive author, won laurels for another new- comer. The others making auspicious debuts in major performances were Mabel Culver and Ruth Stenvick, who both made the most of minor roles, Burkett Huey’s poise and finished acting contributed to his delineation of Dr, Alan Stevens, who wins the af- fection of Elizabeth after Donald's artistic temperament palls upon her. Chester Perry and Jack Vantine as Elizabeth's two brothers both met adequately the requirements made of them. Play Is Worthy } ‘Three Cornered Moon’ Will Be Peecccccccoorroe ce on. !
