CODE STORY ENTERS CONSPIRATORS TRIAL Liaison Man Relates How Ara- bian Nights Were Used by Plotters Moscow, Aug. 21.—The story of how ®@ copy of the Arabian Nights was used as a secret code between Rus- sia’s amazing anti-Stalin conspirators gave @ fantastic touch Friday to the trial of 16 confessed plotters. A bewildered, discomforted pris- oner, E. Holzmann, solemnly recount- ed how he acted as liaison man be- tween T. R. and the Arabian Nights e.” Leon Trotzky, the celebrated exile, hhas been accused by both the govern- mént and the defendants as the mas- ter of the plot, embracing not one but many attempts upon the life of Dic- tator Joseph Stalin. Previous evidence had brought out that the counter-revolutionaries used secret compartments of trunks, in- visible ink and other subterfuges in order to exchange information. Holzmann, a reluctant witness, told of a meeting with Troteky in Copen- hagen at which he quoted the exile as saying: “The only way to remove Stalin ts through terror.” Labor Investigators Hit Injunction Snag Washington, Aug. 21.—(#)—Leonart Weinberg, attorney for the Railwa’ Audit and Inspection company, told the special LaFollette labor investi- gating committee Friday an injunc- tion had been obtained restraining 8ix Officials of that company from The injunction, Weinberg informed the committee investigating alleged violations of Civil Liberties in labor cisputes, was granted by the federal court here Friday morning and would Brevent the officials from testifying for a period of at least five days.
