nes aaa yomers TRENT AND NORRIS GRANT 8 HITS AS END OILERS WIN Local Club Still in Tournament —Two Losses Necessary for Elimination TROUPE HITS HOME RUN Perry, Oilers Pitching Ace, Holds Champions to Five Scattered Blows Wichita, Kans., Aug. 20.—‘Special) —Bismarck’s semi-pro champions committed eight costly errors, two Bismarck hurlers granted eight safe hits, and the Enid Oilers scored eight runs to the champions’ two in win- ning @ second round game of the na- tional semi-pro baseball tournament here last night. The defeat does not put Bismarck out of the running as tournament rules do not eliminate a team until it has suffered two defeats. Bismarck ‘won its only other game 14 to 0, Sifmday night against the Denver Monarchs-White Elephants. Bismarck’s next opponent and the time of the contest had not been an- nounced early Thursday. Trent Gives 4 Hits ‘Ted Trent granted only 4 safe blows during the 5 innings he was on the mound for Churchill's crew, and his nervous mates’ five fumbles accounted for only one run. Two of Enid’s hits off Trent were circuit blows, however, and a third was a three bagger. The home rum smash of Willingham, Enid second baseman, over the center field fence was the longest hit ever made in Lawrence stadium, the centerfield wall being 420 feet from the, home plate. Barney Morris received no better support during his three innings of relief hurling as Bismarck was guilty of 3 additional bobbles during that period. Morris also granted four hits. Perry, Enid pitching ace, hurled a beautiful game in holding the hard- hitting champions to five scattered blows. He had perfect support from his teammates, not a single error be- ing recorded against the classy Enid club, Troupe Scores Both Runs m Quincy Troupe, who went trom left field to behind the plate in the sev- enth inning when Ted Radcliffe left the game with an injured finger, scored both of Bismarck’s runs. In the first half of the fourth, with the bases just swept clear by a double play, Troupe found one he liked and belted it clear over the right field fence. In the seventh, Perry passed Bismarck’s hard-hitting utility man, and he came all the way around on Haley's sharp single.
