Laura Ellsworth captured first in the 30-yard free style swim and the diving contest. for women while Betty Barnes placed second in each Of these events. Jack Slattery won first place in ithe boys’ diving contest with Ray Hanson placing third. Later in the program Hanson teamed with Mark Christianson, who had won third Place in the 40-yard free style swim, to give a diving exhibition off the 30-foot tower at the Williston pool. John Gelermann scored Bismarck’s only other points when he took second \in the 30-yard free style event for jDoys between 13 and 15 years of age. In addition to the male swimmers already mentioned other members of ithe water polo team were Warren Kraft, Bob Penner, Pinky Register and Frank Geiermann, Arnold Van Wyk accompanied the Bismarck team. Swimmers from Williston, Dickinson and Bismarck took part in the meet. Safety Driving Movie Shown Kiwanis Club A talking moving picture stressing the safety structure of modern auto- mobiles and presenting a forceful argument for safe driving was pre- sented to the Bismarck Kiwanis club Tuesday noon. The picture was shown by J. J. Murphy of Flint, Mich., who was introduced by F. M. Davis, pro- gram chairman. Stressing the necessity for each driver to exercise the same care taken by railroad engineers in observance of ‘traffic signals, the picture lauded the safety record achieved by the rail- we . A committee including F. 8. Lunde, ‘Earle F. Tucker and R. Worth Lumry was named by President J. L. Barth to make arrangements for the Kiwanis ‘sponsorship of the junior American ‘Legion baseball teams which will compete here in the regional tourna- ment Aug. 23, 24 and 25. W. E. Glotebach of Anamoose, ‘Democratic national committeeman for North Dakota, was the only guest. Stevens Named Firm’s Huron Store Manager R. L. Stevens, merchandising man- ager at the Montgomery Ward store here since last fall, plans to leave Wednesday for Huron, 8. D., where he. will take over the duties of man- ager of the firm’s Huron branch. He will be joined there later by his wife and 10-month-old daughter, Terry, who at present are visiting-in Billings, Mont. Stevens came to the local store last fall from Lewiston, Mont.
