Qs G.A.A. Girls Pay Honor to Mrs. Simle, Retiring Leader Junior High School Members Are Guests at 1936 Ban- quet Monday Evening Special tribute to Mrs. Themar E. Simle, who is retiring after being girls’ physicial education director of the Bismarck high school for five years, was interwoven with the Mother Goose theme of the annual ‘banquet which the Girls’ Athletic as- sociation of the high school gave Monday evening. A. were stressed in talks by Messrs. Leifur and Van Wyk and by Mrs. Simle. The latter also respond- ed briefly to the gift presentations. Sarah Bashara told “The History of Mother Goose” in keeping with the banquet theme. Edna Nelson was toastmaster, substituting for Beverly Barnes, who was ill. Dorothy Manney and Doreen Church sang “The Story Book Ball” and Miss Manney led community singing of G. A. A. songs with Miss Church at the piano. The latter also Played a solo, “Dark Eyes.” A huge plaster of paris shoe over- flowing with dolls significant of “the old woman who lived in a shoe” cen- tered the main table. Mottled pastel streamers forming May poles and the place cards, handpainted characters from Mother Goose rhymes, complet- ed the effect. Her flowers were a bouquet of Talisman roses. The maid of honor wore a pale pink silk crepe gown with ruffles at the hem- line and a white picture hat, and carried Columbia roses. Ferdinand Knoll of Mandan attended his brother. Three wedding cakes made and decorated by Mrs. A. B. Lueck, pink roses and white tapers were main table decorations for the wedding breakfast served to 15 guests in the Grand Pacific hotel. Places were marked by white cellophane lace doilies fashioned into nut cups. The top of the largest cake was decorated with a miniature arch entwined with lilles-of-the-valley and white bells. The bride's twin brother, Elmer Klipstein, sang “O Promise Me” by DeKoven, his accompaniment being played by Mrs. J. M. Wildes, a close friend of the bride’s family. Mr. and Mrs. Knoll are having & week’s trip to the Minnesota lakes.
