w ‘THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE, MONDAY, APRIL 20, 1986. Tribune’ s Grain, Livestock and Market cece for Mon., April 20 LATE SELLING WAVE KNOCKS PROPS FROM UNDER PRICE RISES Losses Generally Range From Fractions to More Than Three Points | New York, April 20—(7)—A late, selling wave knoeked the props from; under Monday’s stock market after the list had displayed selective firm- ness during the greater part of the session. While mild last-minute sup- port arrived for scattered issues, losses, generally, ranged from frac- tions to more than 3 points. The close was heavy. Transfers were around 1,600,000 shares. Some of the steels, motors and specialties were given a moderate up- ward push in the morning, but they fell with the rest in the final hour’s downturn. For a while the ticker tape was 3 minutes or so behind floor transactions, the most active perform- ance in several weeks, Brokers attributed the reaction partly to the fact that the list had reluctantly responded to optimistic economic developments, indicating to some that these may have been dis- counted. The Italo-Ethiopian crisis was also seen as a factor. Columbian carbon broke about six points ,and lesser declines were show? by Case, Johns-Manville, Deere, Du Pont, ‘Allied Chemical, Westinghouse. U. 8. Steel, Bethlehem, General Mot-| y¢q. ors, Union Pacific, Santa Fe, N. Y. Central, Delaware & Hudson. Secondard bonds were inclined to follow stocks. Commodities were mixed. Foreign currencies were slight- ly irregular. Sd See ee | Produce Markets a CHICAGO Chicago, April 20—(7)—Butter and eggs were steady in tone Monday. AS DEMANDS WEAKEN IN CHICAGO Both Speculative and Current Desire for Supplies React Downward Chicago, April 20—(7)—In an ab- Tupt reaction from recent advances of about 11 cents a bushel, wheat values Monday took a big downward 4 | swing. A decided reaction both in specula- tive and commercial demand for wheat was an outstanding feature. Suggestions were current that a ;|change of weather conditions in drouth districts might easily take | place, and that liberal wheat imports into this country from Canada were again possible, ‘Wheat closed nervous, 1% to 2% cents under Saturday’s finish, May 99% to %, July 92% to %4, corn 5% to 1% down, May 62% to %, oats % to % off and provisions showing 5 to 12 1} cents decline. % | MINNEAPOLIS WHEAT FUTURES RANGE LOWER Minneapolis, April 20.—(#)—A hint of rain for the southwest and weak closing cables made wheat futures prices considerably lower Monday. Trade was good during the early part of the session but died down toward the end. The close was 2% to 3% 2 | lower. May wheat closed 3% lower, July 2% lower and Sept. 2% off. Coarse grain futures followed the lead of wheat and closed lower. Flax finished weak and lower because of the indecisive support offered by crushers. May oats closed % lower and July % off. May and July rye each cosled 1c lower while May malt- ing barley held unchanged. May and July feed barley each closed % lower. = May flax finished % down. off and July 1 Cash wheat undertone was softer but there was ready demand for all good quality. Winter wheat was in 35 | Quiet to fair demand. Durum was in Hd good demand. Corn demand was quiet to fair. +! Oats was in quiet to good demand. Rye was in steady demand. Barley was firm. Flax offerings were liberal but met with good demand. i |__Livestock | SOUTH ST. PAUL South St. Paul, April 20.—(#)—(U. 8. Dept.
