March was chosen winner of the acting award of the Academy of Mo- tion Picture Arts and Sciences as the result of his brilliant porttayal of the dual-personality role. The role is perhaps one of the most difficult ever created by a writer, for the Mr, Hyde who commits a chain of unprecedented horrors is basically the same man as the Dr. Jekyll who is renowned for his kindness, gentle- ness, and ability as a scientist. Thelma Todd, the girl who originally caused Murphy's arrest, turns up and threatens to be- tray him.
