Tronnes and McHose defeated Wooledge and Wooledge, also of Far- go, in the finals of the men’s doubles event Tuesday, 8-10, 6-3, 6-0, 7-5, after winning the event twice before, in 1930 and 1934. Helen Gruchella of Jamestown re- tained her state women’s singles title in a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Pauline Eddy of Fargo in the finals. Paired in the mixed doubles event, Gruchella and Phil Woodelge of Far- go defeated Ruth Wetmore of Bis- marck and Tronnes, 6-2, and a de- fault. McHose and Phil Wooledge will battle at Fargo Sunday in the finals of the men’s singles. Decision to play off at Fargo for the singles championship was reached when the semi-final match between McHose and Lester McLean of Bismarck was not completed until late in the day.
