Dak. Jan. 23, 1935, Editor, Tribune: I have before me the letter of Lester E. Harrington, published in the Jan. 21st edition of the Bismarck Tribune, and must say that he, }among many others, has nothing to harp about but the so-called “politi- cal machine” which some disap- pointed or defeated politician started before the November election. This was only one of the political “gags” or “falsities” used by Mrs. Langer’s: opponents to gain, by any method whatever, the votes necessary for the election of Moodie. Could that election be called fair? No. Every conceivable method, hon- est or otherwise, was used for Mrs. Langer’s defeat. Even the Hon. THE_BISMARCK_ TRIBUNE, FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, 1985 because North Dekota had turned |was deposed there was no need for forthcoming decision of the supreme legally and which commends itself to can be influenced by political prop- aganda and Why can’t we pick up a North Da- kota newspaper without some “slam” at Langer and his “political ma- chine?” Simply because some disap- pointed officers of former adminis- trations are jealous and must have something to do. It was all “hunky- dory” when they sat in public chairs but now, well it is different. Would it be better if one of the opposing party were leader of the majority party in the house and so could be political dictator which the deposed Gov. Langer has the reputation of being at present? This calls to mind the remark of the local Burleigh representative who was so “embarrassed” to be present at the impeachment proceedings of Gov. Moodie because it was a “dis- grace to the state.” But when Langer S—cc_oco—— Gerald P. Nye had to make it his |personal business to do all in his = power by way Ci radio, newspapers, KEEP ON ete. to broadcast as much political “mud” as possible against the Langer administration and for a Democratic governorship. Also, besides the North Dakota TOP 0’ THE WORLD newspapers in the campaign, some Twin City newspapers had to express their interest in this state's election. Are the house members justified in their impeachment of Moodie? | According to Mr. Harrington they are not, because of reasons too insignifi- cant.
