Kay Francis has the title role, but although she portrays the part of a Physician, there are no hospital scenes or medical sequences. “other woman” is Jean Muir, and the husband, beloved by both, is played by Warren William. Verree Teasdale has another stellar role, and other im- portant members of the cast include Phillip Reed, Emma Dunn, Herbert Bunston, Ann Shoemaker, Virginia Hammond, Hale Hamilton and Vir- ginla Pine. The plot is taken from a famous Polish play, and comes to a strange and dramatic climax when the wife arranges to give up her husband when she finds he is the father of the other woman’s child, but is thwarted ty the girl, who ends her life in one of the most exciting scenes ever shown on the screen. Dealing entirely with the social elect of New York, the picture is set in the background of beautiful Long Island estates and in luxurious apartments. William Keighley direc- ted from the screen play by Charles Kenyon, which was dramatized from an English screen adaption of the Polish play by Laura Walker Mayer. Dozens of adaptations were pre- Pared and then because they did not express the full strength of the Stevenson original. each character was analyzed for its value to the story with dialogue as in the original plot. The result is said to offer a literal translation of the book to celluloid with a maximum of realism and visual Power. Wallace Beery in the role of Long John Silver is said to be an exact per- sonification of the book character; and with Jackie Cooper as Jim Haw- jkins, boy adventurer, the Stevenson trading schooner, Eman- uel, put into Southampton, Eng., it was the first vessel in 2000 years to feck hase wiih an all-dewien crew of cad : at Once THE NEWFANGLES (Mom’n Pop) THE GUMPS—PARTING IS SUCH A SWEET SORROW 1 BDO Wish You COULD STAY JUST, GOOD BY EPH- NOW WHEN Daas Go0D BY - WUSBAND REALIZES GEY HOME GO UP AND Arew more J Net WHAT A PRECIOUS JEWEL You OLD TIMER- ey LA Roe LOOK IN THE TOR RIGHT i eet tir MRS KENES- ap sv Aw Reg.
