> National President Wil - Visit Spanish War Group Mis. Mamie B. Schmidt, Was! ington, D. C., to Institute N. D. Department Mrs. Mamie B. Schmidt, Washing- ton, D. C., national president of the Women’s Auxiliary to the United Spanish American War Veterans, will attend the state convention of the veterans in Bismarck June 4 and 5 and will institute a North Dakota de- partment auxiliary at that time. Auxiliary No. 2 of Levi M. Parsons Camp No. 7 of Bismarck and Mandan will be hostess group for the auxiliary meeting, which also will have in at- tendance delegations from the Grand Forks, Minot and Dickinson women’s groups. The four groups now are or- ganized at large and will come under department organization for the first time during Mrs. Schmidt's visit. ‘The Bismarck and Mandan unit was instituted Jan. 12, 1933, by Mrs. Katherine Bakke, Minot, provisional department president of the auxiliary, who will have a prominent part in the convention program. This will be the team’s first public appearance since its organization this winter. Miss Cook Will Visit Several State Cities Miss Lillian E. Cook, secretary of the state library commission, expects to leave Thursday for official visits to five towns in the state. Miss Cook's first stop will be at Grand Forks for the meeting of the North Dakota Library association Friday and Saturday. Other Bis- marck people attending will be Miss Ruth King, librarian at the Bismarck Public Library, and Miss Elizabeth Gieseler of the library commission office. Miss King will be on the pro- gram with a talk, “Depression and North Dakota Libraries,” Friday aft- ernoon, Following the Grand Forks meet- ing, Miss Cook goes to Devils Lake for a conference with the library board, to Minot where she will ad- dress Homemakers’ clubs on Monday, to Williston where she will be Wed- nesday, Thursday and Friday ad- dressing a Homemakers’ meeting and conferring with the library board, and to Dickinson where she will meet with the library board.
