Victor Schertzinger, who is a noted composer as well as a famous maker of pictures, directed Miss Daniels in “Cocktail Hour” and wrote the song she sings. It is called “Listen, Heart of Mine.” It fits appropriately into the action of the story. Miss Daniels’ singing was one of the hits of the enormously success- ful “42nd Street,” her latest picture. Before that, she had a leading role in the big box-office hit, “Silver Doller,” with Edward G. Robinson. “Cocktail Hour” will mark her first appearance at the Columbia studios. Others in the cast of “Cocktail Hour” are Randolph Scott, Sidney Blackmer, Barry Norton, Jessie Ralph and Muriel Kirkland. MOVIES | Fun, Songs, Beauty In College Life Film Paramount comes across this week with the most intoxicating bit of tom- foolery that ever provoked a goggle- eyed audience to spasms of laughter in an hilarious production of what passes for college life among the gay and carefree. It is aptly titled “Col- lege Humor” and opens tomorrow at the Paramount theater. A glamorous cast includes Bing Crosby, Richard Arlen, Mary Car- lisle, Jack Oakie, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Coach Howard Jones of the University of Southern Cali- fornia, Lona Andre, Mary Kornman and a perfectly dazzling collection of much-beloved maidens named the “Ox-Road Co-Eds.” The picture was directed by Wesley Ruggles. Ideal College Though no college was ever like the Mid-West University pictured in “College Humor”, you'll wish there were, that you might rush right out and enroll for any and all degrees pre- sented. It’s Never Mild It’s the inside story of what we'd all like college life to be in the raw-raw- Taw—and believe us, “College Humor” shows it’s never mild. It’s made up of all the old grad’s memories of blind dates and formal dates ‘and necking Parties, and winning football teams and fraternity initiations and all the little details one does remember of college, to the exclusion of other little things like studies.
