In Faulkner Story “The Story of Temple Drake,” screen adaptation of a novel by Wil- liam Faulkner, has been booked for the Paramount Theatre, where it will open tomorrow. Miriam Hopkins plays the title role, with Jack LaRue. Wil- liam Gargan, William Collie, Jr., Irv- ing Pichel and Sir Guy Standing at the head of the supporting cast. “The Story of Temple Drake” is the story of a Southern girl. a curious mixture of the sedate and the wanton. A drunken ride with a college boy ends up in a wreck outside a boot- legger’s house, and, when the boy is shipped off back to town, she is held behind by a sinister, menacing big- city gangster, Trigger, who kills the cne man who tries to protect her; drags her off to a tawdy rooming house in the city, and keeps her there. Blame for the murder is placed on another man. and a young lawyer who is in love with Temple is assigned to defend him. The lawyer traces Trig- |ger, and finds Temple with him.
