Clarence Thomas, the druggist, called me on the phone and said “Is this Billy Dunn” and I answered in the affirmative. He told me he had a message for me and shortly afterward a boy delivered it to me. The message said that I did not need to think that I was so damn smart; that they had trailed the taxi- cab, and contained some more threats. The two messages which I had so far received were signed by William Hamm, Jr. On the bottom of each message was the signature of William Hamm, Jr., but they apparently were signed without his knowledge of a notation which in substance said “It is my re- quest that you comply with all of the above instructions.” This notation was undoubtedly added after Mr. Hamm signed the notes. Don’t dodge your doctor if you owe him a bill. Go to him and say, “Doctor, I have a baby and it is summer. Jim is going to have work by fall. Can your charge more and let us pay you later?” But in any case it should be a doctor who directs you bn your baby—the feeding espec- ally. Guesswork Is Hazardous When I say “have a doctor” I don’t mean every day—unless of course the baby does get sick or is not doing well.
