THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE, FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 1932 SOCIETY 1S GIVEN INDIAN COLLECTION Materials Dealing With Life of Mandan-Hidatsa Indians : Are Extensive St. Paul, March 11—(4)—A valu- able collection of materials dealing with the life of the Mandan-Hidatsa Indians, including rakes made from the antlers of black-tailed deer, andj hoes fashioned with bone blades, have | been presented to the Minnesota His- torical Society museum. They were collected by the late Gilbert L. Wilson, St. Paul. For a number of years he studied the culture of these Indians, to whose settlements along the Missouri river near Mandan the western boundary of Minnesota territory extended. They were living close together when Lewis and Clark found them in 1845 after smallpox had nearly ex- terminated them. Garden implements such as the hoe and rake plainly show that these In-| ~ dians were not nomads of the prairie as were the Sioux with whom they had many a bitter fight. vold, Grand Forks, Tom Paulson, Val- ley City and Phil Vogel, Fargo. The Nodak team will meet Mar- 21, and Carroll college at Waukesha, | ticipate in the Wisconsin tour. Jury Finds Boy Shot Mobridge, S. D., March 11.—(P>}— Charles, 15-year-old son of Russell Doesberg, was at liberty Friday after @ coroner's jury returned a verdict of accidental shooting in the death of the boy’s father, a Milwaukee railroad conductor. Charles had been held since the shooting Tuesday. The jury accepted the lad’s story that he had pulled the trigger of the gun, inadvertently pointed at his father’s head, after he had been told the weapon was not loaded. Docsberg was killed instantly. Besides his son, Doesberg leaves his widow and a daughter, a student at Eau Claire, Wis, Burial will be at Marmarth, N. D. “AIL-BRAN LIVES Students believe they were an ag- ricultural people, with stockaded vil- lages of mud houses which could not} easily be abandoned; and for this rea- son they are outstanding among the! tribes of the northwest. Outside the villages were eenere| fields and gardens in which they) raised corn, squash, beans, and to-| bacco. They selected their seed corn with great care and at intervals al- lowed part of the cultivated land to lie fallow. In addition to agricultural imple- | ments the collection includes dried) specimens of food stuffs, household utensiJs, weapons, ornamented cow skins, games, and a number of phon-, ograph records of Indian songs. | University Debaters Have Heavy Program Grand Forks, N. D., March 11.— Members of the University of North Dakota forensic team will make their | first appearance on their annual de- | bate tour, Monday, March 14, when! the first group of these teams will go to Sioux City, Iowa, for a contest with Morningside college, according to Wil- liam Schrier, forensic coach. Linn Sherman, Steele, and Carroll Day, Grand Forks, will represent the university. Their itinerary also will take them to Omaha, where they will meet Creighton university Tuesday, March 15, and the University of Ne- | braska, Wednesday, March 16. Another group of five debaters will) leave for the Twin Cities to debate) Gustavus Adolphus, March 17, River | .Falls State Teachers college the af-| ternoon of March 18 and St. Olaf col- lege at Northfield the evening of March 18. It really does live up to its reputation | when it is said to ‘relieve consti- pation.’ “I used to feel poor all the time | st down and out —and after | azine about ALL-BRAN I got a box. It has evermore helped me, and it is not hard at all to eat.” — Miss Mary Bundy, Bennettsville, S. C. Laboratory tests show ALL-BRAN brings two things needed to correct common constipation: “Bulk” to ex- ercise the intestines; Vitamin B to blood. The “bulk” in ALL-BRAN is‘much like that of lettuce. Within the body, it forms a soft mass. Gently, it clears the intestines of wastes. How much safer than <aking pills and drugs—so often harmful. ALL- Bran is not habit-forming. Two tablespoonfuls daily will overcome | most types of constipation. If your intestinal trouble is not relieved this way, see your doctor.
