Following attacks on the board by Pennsylvania’s two senators after Philadelphia dairy wholesalers had charged a cooperative with indis- eriminately cutting prices, Williams said it was only natural the commis- Sion men’s protest should become louder as farmer competitors absorb more of their business. The growing conflict between coop- eratives and private dealers has been Tecognized for months by the board, with former Chairman Alexander Legge and his succesor, James C. Stone, charging the trade with at- tempting to prevent formation of the farmer organizations. After demands had been made last ‘week for a more definite stabilization wheat sales policy, Chairman Stone secused the grain trade of inspiring the wide-spread agitation. Williams’ intimation of increased conflict came after three southern cotton exchanges had requested a new statement of policy for handling that commodity during the new crop year.
