Brophy, Los Angeles aviator, left Macao at 8:45 a. m., Thursday. He was to have arrived at Manila Thursday afternoon. Friday he was sought by sirplanes, fast Unit~ ed States warships and Philippine and Portugese officials. F, A. Diekhoff, San Francisco, and ‘William Scott, Manila, generally were regarded as dead. A pontoon of Diekhoff's hydro-airplane was found in the Pacific ocean off the bleak eastern coast of Mindanao last Sat- urday. No other trace of the fliers ‘was found. Diekhoff and Scott disappeared March 9 on a two-hour flight from Surigao Harbor, Northern Mindanao, to Davao. Diekhoff was a salesman for a New York firm, while Scott ‘was engaged in business here. Ships on the China sea were re- quested to maintain a lookout for Brophy. The radio corporation of the Philippines was advised a Portu guese army seaplane had been dis- yvatched from Macao to patrol the China coast. The United States des- troyers John D.
