92-YEAR-OLD WOMAN BOARDS LINER WITH COLD STAR MOTHERS Elizabeth Hutchings, Who Knit- ted Civil War Socks, to See f Stepson’s Grave New York, May 21.—(P)—It was with a sigh of relief that Mrs. Eliza- beth G. Hutchins, 92 years old, went aboard the 8. 8. George Washington today to sail for France with the third contingent of 262 gold star mothers. Mrs. Hutchins was all tired out, not, she explained, from the effects of her five-day trip across the country from her home in Oakland, Calif. “It's the doctors,” she said. “They won't leave me alone. They think I'm too old to go to France—I, who still earn my living by running @ rooming house out in Oakland—and they keep pestering the life out of me. “All the way across the it they keep hopping onto the train and wanting to take my pulse. I suppose people in Oakland wired ahead to them, and they meant well. And I tried ‘to be nice and polite about it. “I only refused once. That was in Loganport, Ind. But you do get tired of having your pulse taken all the time. It’s made me wonder if, after all, maybe I'm too old to travel.” Mrs. Hutchins, who besides being & gold star mother, is also @ member of an organization formed nearly 70 years ago by young women who wanted to knit socks for the Union soldiers in the Civil war, is en route to France to visit the grave of her stepson, Creighton Hutchins. Her own children are all dead. pina sees 3 OF EXPIRATION OF NOTICE EDEMPTION North Dakota, County of Bur- 8. *Gounty Auditor, Bismarck, Stensrud, Mayville, North .
