BORAL EXPORT DEBENTURE | ‘May Unleash Oratorical Powers tn Public Campaign for Farm Relief Principle * _ Washington, April 10.—()—Senator Borah of Idaho is “stump” in behalf of the export de- ‘benture principle of farm relief, which the senate has placed in the tariff bill over the protest of President Hoover. ‘The Idahoan, whose oratorical power ‘was unleashed in the 1928 campaign in behalf of Mr. Hoover, will speak tomorrow night at Martinsburg, W. Va., at a meeting of the fruit ex- . change, in one of the first public ad- he has delivered since the presidential campaign. The export debenture plan of farm relief, over which he and the presi- dent broke in the early days of the Hoover administration, will be the theme of his address. This provision is now @ part of the tariff bill, which is in the hands of conferees of the senate and house. Asked if he intended going to the country in behalf of this farm relief Brinciple, Senator Borah replied: “I certainly will discuss it in my speeches hereafter if it is not kept in the tariff measure.” ‘There is considerable doubt the ex- port debenture will be retained in the Dill. Twice the senate voted to make it @ part of the Hoover farm relief legislation last spring, but the admin- tstration-controlled house struck it out and won. Friends of the Idahoan say he has many invitations confronting him, but they are doubtful how many, if any, he will accept.
