Stewart is 21 gh & and this spring will compete in the colors of the University of Southern California for the first time. Coach Dean Cromwell believes he will be good for many potnts in major competition—and his marks seem to vindicate Cromwell's belief. He was a member of the Olympic team that summer and won second in the decathlon for Uncle Sam. “c_~\Jack Fields Ordered to Defend Crown|40 BISMARCK TRACK ATHLETES Catholic Champs Wil 'Heinie Wagner Is REPORT TO COACH ROY M’LEOD ij Not Play Athens Five regains cots | sion Demands Champion- chicas hati tues aes Optimistic Pilot of Plans for New Construction at Hughes Field Completed. | ey Predicts ship Encounter ibe mero ght betwee Boston’s Red Sox/ by School Board British Victory HAS NOT DEFENDED crown tatoo agate That. eee | ae ‘Why Should | Be Discouraged,’ | PAYNE DIRECTS TENNIS TEAM He Asks, ‘With Our Good Prospects?’ van | i E {8 i i 8 a 5 Li t Place tin Illinois State Athletic Commis- ae | E brtts Be SlErie, Pa., Boxer Clashes With Champ in 12-Round Non- Title Encounter man Says ‘It’s an Es; cially Good Team’; Mem- bers Named Early Be Declared Vacant; ' Unless Defense Is Made: - Soon, Body Says | Mohall, di | Several Veterans to Help Bis-| mie field . . 220-yard marck in Defense of Vari- ous Meet Titles Charles “(Hieine) "Wegner, 87g Cleveland, O,, April 8—(P)—Tommy ine) Wagner, a great shortstop for 14 years for the Boston Preeanan, Wiley Por will teccle Sostis j | Fields, welterweight champion, in a scheduled 12-round non-title bout Fields, who will be fighting above limit, is the favorite i 2 Hi track and field athletes reported tojin the weight events between tennis Athletic Director Roy D.
