The young. men also attained distinction among their people in the Cheyenne Reservation in the Custer war and the Messiah Craze, standing as a wall of rock be- tween the hostiles and white ae ment. The rescuers came upon the Santee band and their captives near the city of Mobridge on the east side of the river in the bend below the mouth of the Grand river.
