A complaint was sworn out this morning against Art Smith, carnival; eC! attache, wanted here for an $880 rob- , bery of the Ole Skog home May 7 last. a Smith is in the Grand Forks jail | Gli and, according to reports reaching here, admits the robbery. On the night of May 7 Skog was absent from his home. When he re-| turned the following morning he dis- covered his place had been broken into. From all indications, the rob- bers had a key to unlock the door. ,; They ransacked the place, and a check-up by Skog revealed a loss of $880 in cash which had been secret in a trunk. Skog explained that o: dinarily he did not keep such a large amount in his home. He said he had expected to make use of the sum in a! few days and for this reason did not take the trouble to deposit it or leave it at a bank for safckecping. It was then that the four “framed” |him, Olski says, telling Police Chief 'Hermes of Glen Ullin that the Po- lander had held them up at the point of a gun. Hermes then set out to make the arrest. He found Olski in his room at | the Columbia hotel sound asleep with gun under the pillow, he claims. A search of the room revealed $500; {in cash, four checig: of $70 each and his pet card machine, used to mark cards. | ‘The chief of police hustled him off ; |to the Glen Ullin jail and put him | behind the bars. Anxious to rid the jtown of him, the quartet hauled | Olski to Hebron, he says, gave him $25 and told him not to return to Glen Ullin. But Olski had $1060 cached near | the town and he had no intentions of going away and leaving it. When he returned to Glen Ullin to get the jcached money, he was again arrested | by Hermes.
