David Shipley was on horseback and rode like an old cav- alryman. After the main parade the Bismarck delegation staged a parade of its own. Rosalind Brown, as Miss Bismarck, was one of the hits of the Bismarck activities. She won the hearts of the Minot folks and the attending Lions from the other cities in the three states and provinces by her natural bearing and charming ways, said re- turning Bismarck participants. She made a very attractive picture in the parade and in the social events of Wednesday evening. The Slater girls from the Indian school and the MacIntyre dancers were other hits of the conference. There was nothing as ambitious as the Bismarck stunt staged, and it was but natural that first award went to this city on this feature. Bismarck put on a real vaudeville show, in fact, with its songs and dancing and Bill Doty’s tramp role introducing the sev- eral acts on the thread of a slender plot. D., May 24—(?)—The Milnor “Up-to-Date” club was award- ed first place in the community achievement contest conducted by the North Dakota Federation of Women’s clubs, it was announced here today. The Sanish Homemakers club won second place and the Loma Women's club, third. The purchase of four city blocks and their beautification for park and playground purposes won the prize for the Milnor club.
