Sheedy, execu- tive vice president of the United States Line, Inc., announced this afternoon. He said that his or- der to the stewards of the ship was to serve liquors on the west- ern trip. New York, April 11.— (AP) — The Leviathan, queen of the American merchant marine for six years, a pro- hibition ship, was en route to Europe ‘oday with liquor for sale. The liner was making her maiden voyage under private American own- ership as the flagship of the newly organized United States Lines, Inc., and the medical stores will be for Sale. Joseph E. Sheedy, executive vice resident of the line, said there would no public kar in the ship but that iquors and wines would be served to passengers in their cabin and in the fining rooms and smoking rooms. Drinks will be served at meals. It will be unnecessary to purchase whole Rottles. ‘The same policy, Sheedy said, would | PAGEEIGHT RN | be put into effect aboard the other 10 ships which Paul W. Chapman recent- ly purchased from the United States shipping board and which will make up the United States Lines fleet. Under the law ships are permitted to carry one quart of liquor for each five passengers and members of the erew for medical purposes. This would give the Leviathan an allow- ance of 700 quarts on this voyage to Europe. For the westward trip the ship's officers were instructed to take aboard a supply of liquor sufficient to last to the twelve mile: limit. There all over the inedical allowance would be thrown overboard. 3 Bismarck Youths Enter: Fraternities Three Bismarck students at the North Dakota agricultural college were among 41 recently initiated into social fraternities.
