The state department Las approved @ request of the Mexican government. for surplus war material and will probably supply such material out of | stores now held by the war depart- ment. Secretary of War Good said that the Mexican government had asked only rifles and ammunition and that a survey was now being made to determine the surplus and whether it would be sent by water, or through one of the border towns, The state department also approved @ request by the Mexican government. to import privately made airplanes from the United States. Along with approval given the pur- chase of planes by the Mexican gov- ernment went an embargo on un- authorized shipment of planes into Mexico, this being done presumably to prevent the buying of aircraft in this country by the rebels. , Whether the arms to be sent to Mexico will go by water or through one of the border towns will probably depend upon developments in the north of Mexico. The revolution is apparently spreading in some north- ern sections and the suggestion was advanced that the war material might fall into rebel hands if sent by way of the border.
