THURSDAY, MARCH 7, 1929 Social and Personal Misses Erickson and- |Entertains Wives of Simonson Entertain Legislature Members for Shirley Penner] se. o. w. ricbonnett entertained Miss Shirley Penner, who will be- come a bride this spring, was honor guest last evening when Miss Esther Erickson and Miss Hildor Simonson | Tuesday afternoon at her home, 422 Avenue A west, in compliment to the wives of the North Dakota senators and representatives. The afternoon was spent informal- entertained at @ 7 o'clock bridge din-|ly with music and in social conver- ner at the home of Miss Erickson. Lavender, pink and green were the colors used for the tables, which had centerpieces and favors in these colors and were lighted with lavender tapers. Bowls of lavender tulips placed about the rooms further added to the pretty decorative effect. Bridge was played at three tables after dinner, with score prizes to Miss Louise Keller. Miss Penner was presented with e& gift from the guests. xk * Bridge Party Given at Milton Rue Home Three tables of bridge were in play when Mrs. Charles Rue entertained at cards at her home yesterday after- noon. Honors in the games went to Mrs. J. L. Enright and Mrs. Charles Rue, and at the close of play a course luncheon was served. The hostesses used a green and white color motif for the table ap- pointments, and in the rooms, carry- ing it out with carnations, shamrocks and fernery. Mrs. O. B. Benson, Bottineau, was @ guest from out of the city. * * * James Moffat Speaks at De Molay Meeting James Moffat, Fargo, speaking be- fore the members of De Molay at their meeting last evening, stressed the advantages to be secured by a wise use of leisure time. Mr. Moffat cited Harry Lauder, with whom he is personally acquainted, as an example, stating that Mr. Lauder always has something to occupy his time, whether he is waiting for a train or car, or at odd minutes at home. Edmund O'Hare was named master councillor at the election of officers. Others elected were Gerald Vettel, senior councillor; and Robert Larson, junior ied * * Delphian Society to Meet With Mrs. Penner Psychological and social problems will be studied at the meeting of the Delphian society tomorrow afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ralph Penner. Mrs. C. W. Schoregge will be in charge of the program, and reports will be given on the following topics: “Savanarola’s Sermon,” Mrs. Penner; “Silas Marner,” Mrs. Harvey Harris; “Diana,” Mrs. Burt Finney. Mrs. W. A. Hughes will speak on the subject, “Put Yourself in His Place.” \ xe * $ Dr. Agnes Stucke, Garrison, who has been a guest at the home of Dr. and Mrs. F, OC. Stucke while here on some matters to the legis- lature, will leave today for her home. BPW Convention Dates Changed to May 20-22 Announcement that the dates for the annual convention of the North Dakota Federation of Business and Professional Women’s clubs at Grand Forks have been advanced from May 27, 28 and 29 to May 20, 21, and 22, was made today by Miss Chrissie Budge, state president. The change was made following a conference with Miss Emily R. Kneu- buhl, New York city, executive secre- tary of the national federation, in order to permit Mrs. Geline Bow- man, Richmond, Va., first vice presi- dent of the national federation of Business and Professional Women, who will be a speaker at the conven- tion, to also attend the California state convention, Miss Budge stated. Mrs. Bowman, with whom Miss Budge is personally acquainted, is not only an especially fine speaker, but she is also a very capable business woman. She has adopted one of the professions into which women have but recently gained entrance—direct mail advertising. Mrs. Bowman man- ages the largest letter shop in the uth. xe k Mrs. H. 8.
