An effort to amend the bill to pro- vide a limitation failed. On the roll call, William Watt, “Cass county, and A. F. Murphy, chair- P man of the state board of adminis- tration, and his crowd were getting $27,730 too much on the deal.” William Watt, Cass county, said the state has bought land for which it has always paid too much and that @ bill sponsored by Martin in this session to pay $25 an acre for land near the Northern Great Plain Field station near Mandan is in the same class. Watt stated he had inspected the land near Mandan this morning and in his judgment it is not worth $10 per acre. Watt said the state will pay double what the proposed penitentiary land is worth and that it has been the , Same story everywhere when the state goes into the market for land.
