She returned home on the evening train. J. S. Fevold, who has een spend- ing several weeks in a Bismarck hos- pital, has returned home. A number of local farmers at- tended the big sale’of registered cat- tle which was held in Mandan Tues- day. Among those who purchased sires at the sale were Brown Bros. of Baldwin. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Falkenstein and family attended the big community Thanksgiving party which was held in the Still hall on Thanksgiving day. A bounteous dinner was served and a fine time enjoyed by all who attended. Jake Maelhoff and George Wirtz leharbor arrived here Tuesday to visit with Mr. Maelhoff’s brother- in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Geigle. ir. and Mrs. Wayne Cummings have returned from a week's visit with relatives at Underwood and Garrison. They were accompanied home by the mother of Mrs. Cum- mings, who will spend some time at the home of her mene iar, Miss Grace Falkenstein, who teaches school in Gra: town- ship, spent Thanksgiving and the week-end at her home. .° ~ The building owned by Fred Rupp and popularly known as “Rupp’s Hall,” was completely destroyed by fire Friday morning. about four o’clock. Several cars which were stored in the lower part of the build- ing were saved, but the rest of the contents including a piano were de- stroyed. A dance had been given by k Union Thursday night, and it was only a few hours after the that the building was afire. When the fire was noticed the flames had already gained consid- ‘able headway and it’ was impos- sible to get out anything but the cars. The hall had been unoccupied for several years, being used prin- cipally for storage purposes. Just recently it had been rented: by the Farmers Union since which time sev- {eral dances had been held in it. No surance qarried on the build- ing, and it is not ex; a new building will be erected to take its lace. A most delightful and entertaining program followed by auctioning the shadows of the ladies, who each had a well-filled lunch box for two. The neat sum of $45.55 was realized for the use of the two schools, Miss Helen Skramstad who taught the Cherry Grove school for the past two years spent Thanksgiving week visiting Miss Ada Saville and other friends here, leaving for her school work again near Valley City Sunday forenoon by auto.
