"PAGE TWELVE THF BISMARCK TRIBUNE GOVERNOR HUNT STOPS FISTS OF STATESENATOR ‘Arizona Special Legislative) Session Enlivened by Fistic | Encounter Phoenix, Ariz., Nov. 27.—(AP)—| ‘A fistic encounter between G. W. P.) Hunt, governor of Arizona, and State Senator Fred Colter during an argument in the state capitol over the Colorado river question, gave an exciting touch yesterday to a prob- lem which has harassed the state for years. Arizona's intense feeling over the ultimate settlement of the Colorado river problem, in which she has bat- tled her sister states for what she insists is a just share of water and | power from proposed dams, was the | subject of an argument which pre- cipitated the clash. The state legis- lature has been called into special session primarily to consider action to be taken upon the Swing-Johnson ( bill now before congress. Arizona's Colorado river commis- | sion, appointed to investigate and handle the river problem in conjunc- | tion with the commissions of the six other states concerned, was being discussed by Senator Colter and sev eral legislative associates when G ernor Hunt appeared. Hunt, who was defeated in a seventh term at the November elections, became involved in the argument. | w.; The governor's secretary, J. \ Strode, declared afterwards that he saw his chief stagger against the wall from a blow delivered by Col- ter. Strode interfered, catching| the senator by the arms, whereupon | the group of legislators closed in, fighting and shouting. Colter also was reported to have been struck in the face during the melee. CANADA-CUBA FLIGHT STARTS Non-stop Hop from Walkers- ville to Havana Must Be Completed Before Dusk Walkerville, Ont. Nov. —Leonard Flo of Ann Arbor, Mich., 26 year old former army and air mail pilot, today was making his second attempt at a non stop solo flight from Canada to Cub. He took off from the airport here at 11:07 last night in a Spartan bi- plane and hoped to reach Havana in 18 to 20 hours. It is approximately 1,800 miles to the Cuban capital. His route was via Cincinanti, O., ‘Atlanta, Ga., Tampa and Key West, Fla., thence across the 90 miles of water to Camp Columbia, Havana. He must arrive there before dark to- night to insure a safe landing as the field is not equipped with guide lights, markets of searchlights. He honed to arrive just before dusk. Last January 18, accompanied by Austin F. Bement, he attempted the flight but was forced down at Paris TJsland, South Carolina, by fogs. o—________Y if AT THE MOVIES | _—— ELTINGE THEATRE Never has Corinne Griffith ap- peared to greater advantage than in the role of Miriam, a girl of easy virtue but with a heart of gold and a soul above her sordid surroundings, who not only rises to great heights herself, but also uplifts the man she loves, in “Outcast,” coming to the Eltinge screen for Wednesday and Thursday. The stellar role, made famous on the stage by Elsie Ferguson over a decade ago when the celebrated Hu- bert Henry Davies play had its Broadway opening in New York and efterward toured several important cities, calls for real character de- lineation and gives Miss Griffith an opportunity for tremendous emo- tional depths contrasted with lighter moments which bring into play her | keen comedy sense. | Edmund Lowe plays opposite the , star. The principal actors in the supporting cast are Huntley Gordon, Louise Fazenda, James Ford, and Kathryn Carver. CAPITOL THEATRE David Rollins spent the busiest day of his three months on “The Air Circus,” Howard Hawks’ and Lew Seiler’s Fox Films production, on the final lap of this epic of the air. David Butler, the Fox director who gave Rollins his first big start in pictures, had the youth cast in his production of “Prep and Pep,” filmed at Culver Military Academy in In- diana, and was anxious for Rollins to start. However, cloudy weather held up roduction on the air picture and utler had to leave for the east without Rollins. It was expected that Rollins would have to take a plane to get to the Butler unit as soon as he finished, but bright sun for two days and concentration on scenes in which Rollins appeared cleared up his part in “The Air Cir- cus” at 5 o'clock in the afternoon, and at 6 p. m. Rollins was on the Sante Fe Chief headed for Hoosier- dom to take up his next role. “The Air Circus” comes to the Capitol Theatre next week and has| as its theme the interest of young} America in commercial aviation, motivated by the daring of Colonel Lindbergh.
