The letter was addressed to W. H. Payne, principal of the school. “It is certain,” the league secre- tary says, “that the Bismarck school has the outstanding record of the state for this year.” In introducing each of the players to the large crowd of Rotarians and visitors gathered at the meeting, Coach McLeod spoke on various du- ties of coaching, “razzing” on the part of spectators, mistakes made by team members during the season and the ‘ood that football training will do members of the squad later in life. “Many mistakes were made by members of the squad during the season just closed, but each mistake was worth what it cost to the squad in general,” he said. The football squad of this year was ,exceptional not only in cham- pionship calibre but in the fact that it put scholastic duties before foot- ball, he said. Each member is high in scholastic records, “Another exceptional point is the sportsmanship displayed on the field. They at all times conducted them- selves as gentlemen, remembering always that their opponents were guests of the school and city. If they could tackle harder they did it, but in the spirit of football playing only.” In commenting on the members of the squad Payne said the experience gained in training and on the field would be welcomed by the business men of the city and state when mem- bers of the squad took their places in the business world. Churchill voiced the sentiment of the two school officials in regard to the football squad, and said that from watching every game the team played this year he could not see how it could but be recognized as the champion of the state. Guests of the club, besides mem- bers of the football squad, the two school officials and two assistant coaches, were T. G. C. Kennelly, Mandan; Mrs. Henry Duemeland, Bismarck: Henry Roberts, Mandan; William Mitchell, Bismarck; H. N. Elbig, Minneapolis; F. E. Gould, Chi- cago; Henry Halvorson, Roy Baird and T. A. To look at ‘him now, you’d think he never had a day’s sickness but his mother says: “When Leroy was just a‘little fel- low, we found his stomach and bowels were weak. He kept suffer- ing from constipation. Nothing he ate agreed with him. He was fret- ful, feverish and puny. “When we started giving him California Fig Syrup his condition improved quickly. His constipation and biliousness stopped and he has had no more trouble of that kind. I have since used California Fig Syrup with him for colds and upset spells. He likes it because it tastes so good and I like it because it helps nine 80 wondertuly!” California Fig Syrup has been the trusted standby of mothers for over 50 years.
