Speak- ing at the Grange convention here, he said he felt the problem could not be solved at fhe coming regular ses- sion. “This recent campaign has placed all men holding public office in a Position where they must take hold of the farm problem and do their best to solve it,” he said. “There is no ore from the obligation under- taken. Both parties declared in their platforms for some relief measure.” Turning to the Kellogg peace treaty Senator Borah declared that International peace was a National concern and of particular concern to farmers. He expressed the hope that the senate would ratify the pact at the coming session. Louis J. Taber, National Grange Master, in thanking the senator for addressing the Grange, pledged that body’s support to the treaty for In- ternational peace and also to any workable relief measures for agri- culture, The Grange joined the association of American Land Grant colleges for its afternoon session. —— OO | | Personal and Social News of Mandan Vicinity ' Dr. and Mrs. Floyd Erickson and son Howard have returned from Minneapolis, where they were called by the death of Dr. Erickson’s mother, victim of an automobile ac- cident. ELTINGE THEATRE “Waterfront” featured on the El- tinge screen today and Thursday is a jolly romance of a shanghaied girl who turns the tables on a_ sailor boy. Dorothy Mackaill and Jack Mulhall head the cast. Miss Mackaill is cast as the daughter of a tugboat captain, who yearns for a life on the bounding main. Her father (Knute Ericson) has seen enough of the waterfront and wants to spend the rest of his life ona farm. Dorothy seems doomed for just such a life after years around the breakwater, when Mullhall, in the guise of a seaman, enters her life. She falls for the handsome sailor, partly it must be admitted, because she sees an oppor- tunity to stay by the sea. Every- thing is knocked into a cocked hat, however, when her sailor boy con- fides in her that his greatest ambi- tion is to buy a farm and desert his ship. To tell whether Miss Mackaill per- suades her sweetheart and father or of farming, would spoil an evening's entertainment, but what does happen will keep you both thrilled and laughing until the picture is finished.
