THURSDAY, JUNE 21 Standard Bearers Hold Successful Rally Wednesday Standard Bearers of the Bismarck and Minot districts held a success- ful rally here Wednesday, despite the fact that the out-of-town guests arrived tired and muddy from traveling in the rain, About 35 were present at the meeting, inclucing nine from Willis- ton and four from Hettinger. The banner for the greatest number of delegates from the longest distance Migs | whi was presented to Williston. Marie Brethorst of West China and Mrs. E. C. Wilson of Hettinger, district secretary of the Women’s were Foreign Missionary society, guests of honor. Following an afternoon of busi- ness discussion, a district organiza- tion for Bismarck territory was formed. Miss Evelyn Gernhardt of Hettinger - was elected president; Miss Lillian Church, Bismarck, vice [ede and Miss Helen Roberts, landan, secretary. The Standard Bearers were enter- tained at 6 o'clock eign Missionary society, with _ the Bee Heralds girls serving. Mrs. F. H. She told many inter- esting details of the Chinese politi- cel situation, of educational. activi- ties in China, and of her experiences. Mrs. Waldo spoke briefly on “Why Standard Bearers,” and Mrs. E. C. Wilson led devotions. Miss Ruth Rowley played at the evening mect- ing. oe Fun for Children With Chautauqua The boys and girls of Bismarck have a treat in store when the Red- ath-Vawter chautauqua comes to jismarck Monday. will be organized, and will meet every morning under the big chau- tauqua tent. Supervisors are planning many surprises for the vitizens of Junior Town. Games and stories will be ready for the first meeting. The junior movement is under the direc- tion of leading educators and boy and girl workers of the United States. The children of this com- munity are invited to come to the tent every morning to join in the fun_on the playgrounds. “The Follies of Art and Fashions” will be presented by the Juniors some @fternoon before the regular chautauqua performance. The chil- dren will be given an opportunity to do many enjoyable things, and so the chautauqua is not entirely for the grown-ups, ee Miss Flore Gannon, formerly of Underwood, and well known in this vicinity, recently received her Bachelor’s degree from the southern branch of the University of Cali- fornia at Los Angeles. Miss Gan- non double-majored in Political Science and History with minors in Psychology and English. In addi- tion to her work At the University of California, she has studied at the University of Minnesota, California Christian college and the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. Miss Gan- non has been active in dramatics, journalism and international affairs on the campus. She is a sister of Clell G. Gannon, of Bismarck, ° J. T.
