am to FRIDAY, APRIL 27, 1928 THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE PAGE FIVE. Social and Personal Junior Red Cross of Norway Greets No. Dak. Children In answer to Christmas packages | and greetings sent by the school! children of Burleigh county to the Junior Red Cross of Norway, letters; and picture postcards have recently arrived in return. The Junior Red Cross of Nor- way has not beer organi: long, and the children seem to bd delight- ed with the remembrances from members of the Junior Red Cross in America with whom they may become acquainted. Several of the letters received by schools in Bismarck were written in Norwegian and accompanied by translations and scenes of that country. One translation included “I wish I could put down on paper the joy amongst the children when the parcel was opeved and the ckil- dren each got their presents, and I hope we shall be able to send you something in return next year.” Another read, “The first day we were back to school after the Christ- mas holidays we had a great sur- prise. We got a big parcel through the Norwegian Junior Red Cross. On opening it we were all dclighted to see the nice and uscfu! presents you sent us.” The children of Burleigh county have been equally as delighted in hearing from their friends in that far away land, Former Resident of Bismarck Is Lauded Harry F, MacLean, former Bis- marck resident, who is now head of the Dominion Construction company of Toronto, has been honored _re- cently in press notices from Can- adian papers. The Manitoba Free Press recently carried a story of the Flin Flon rail- way which is being built by the Dominion Construction cg to carry supplies into the Flin Flon mine. Quoting Mr. MacLean, the article said: “We have 1,500 men at work now. There is a distance of 35 miles to cover yet through rocky country where going will naturally be slow- er, but the road site has been opened up and preliminary work is un- der way.” Mr. MacLean predicts that the rail connection to the famous Flin Flon mine will be completed by the end of the vear. Arthur Hunt Chute, famous au- thor and, mazagine writer, mentions Heery MacLean in an_ interview written shortly after the author’s return from a trip along the Hud- son Bay railway. Discussing the progress of the Hudson Bay coun- try Mr. Chute says: “Take Harry MacLean, the rail: way builder up there. He builds a mile and a half of line a day. On January 3 he ct-~t-4 the Flin Flon line, and by March 16, when I left, he had 53 miles completed. The whole affair gets bigger and ;dren. The final performance of the bigger.” Harry MacLean is the son of Mrs, Mary Maclean of 104 West Thayer, Bismarck. ink Friends in Bismarck will be in- terested in the annouy/ ment of the recent marriage of Miss Muriel E.
