A large number of friends and relatives attended the funeral of William Burkhardt, 47, held in the Lutheran church here Monday af- ternoon. The deceased died of lung trouble. He had been ill for some time. He was a well-known farm- er in this vicinity for many years. His wife died two years ago. He had lived with his nine children. About a month ago he married a widow with four children, Mrs. Bohle of South Dakota. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, nine children and four step-children, his mother, sisters and brothers. Fu- neral services were conducted by Pastor Leo Seeman of Linton. Mr: Wolfe, electric service man of Omaha, Neb., repaired Steve Koppy’ light plant Friday and from there went to John Schiermister’s at Gayton to repair his light plant. The car had one wheel smashed and the radiator and lights badly damaged. W. W. Paige had an attack of sci- atica rheumatism as soon as he re- turned from California. Finally he decided to go to Minnesota and take treatment in the mud baths institu- tion near St. Paul, where he is at present seeking to be cured. The Bridgeman-Russell company have decided to erect a cream station in Steele, and have secured the lot between the barber shop and the Steel marcantile store. The com- pany will start work as soon as contractors can get on the ground, and the building will be a brick edifice. Because of too close quarters since the large press machine was secured for the Kidder County Press, H. P. Hanson, owner of the building hous- ing the Press, has started building an addition on the south end, which will reach to the alley. Tho F. O. Smith Grading company secured the job of making a federal grade from Tuttle to Stcele on what ig now trail No. 3, The grading out- fit started finishing the work in Oliver county this week, and when the Bismarck-Wilton job is finished, this last peice of work will be started. Phil Smith says that when their outfit is in operation they average a mile of grading every seven days. Mr. Laney of the FairmountCream station bought up in small lots a car- load of potatoes for shipment to eastern market last week, and he reported that he could have shipped nearly another carload. On account of much needed ad- ditional vault room, the county dads started to complete the vault which at present reaches only as far as the floor of the second story.
