The announcement of the new Whippet Six at lowest price in jhe history of utomobile indus- try, was made by R. M. Rowland, aales promotion manager, repre- senting the Willys-Overland com- vany of Toledo, Ohio. Under the Whippet Six prices, the coach will sell for $695, bringing this model $50 under that of the next nearest low-priced six. Other models include a coupe at $695, a four-door sedan at $7465, touring car at $615 and a roadster at $68: All prices are below those of ay light six of equivalent body type. Seven- « Cranks Mr. Rowland said that the new Whippet Six is equipped with a séven-bearing crankshaft, being the first low-priced six to incorporate this advanced feature, thus follow- ing the company’s policy of includ- ing features of higher-priced cars in the lowest-price ranges. The announcement of the new low-priced Whippet Six with ad- vanced engineering features follows closely upon two other r:ajor moves of the Willys-Overland company. The first was the price slash on the Whippet four-cylinder models which placed these cars in direct price competition with the new Ford mod- els. The second move was the re- tent $160 price reduction on the Willys-Knight Standard Six which brought Knight-engined sixes to the lowest price in mae Overland his- tory. It wai that this new price is du sony to the record- breaking sales that have piled up in the first quarter of this year, the first three months showing an in- crease of 42 per cent over the same period of last year and also set a high mark for any 90-day period in Wile oneal Paget ft Auditoriom The beers bane was held at the city auditorium and is one of a sa- ries of 50 business meetings ing held by the company in various sec- tions of the country. A new financial credit plan which should further enlarge the cn expanding market for the Wh! and Willys-Knight cars also was announced by Mr. Rowland and was received with unusual enthusiasm by the Willys-Overland merchants. The new time payment plan 1s|cently ordered here from Fort dealers as a; Leavenworth, looked upon by the great ald in increasing their sales to the purchaser who buys on time mayments. It was said that this elan places the sales of Whippe's i and Willys-Knights on basis which is among the vorable and reasonable tended in the retail sale of cars. This financing plan is made pos- sible by a contract entered into for & period of years between the Wil- lys-Overland company and the Com- mercial Credit company of Balti- mor e of the largest azi strong- est tomobile financing corpora- tions in the sot heel etl Tax Commissioner’s Office Is Getting Back to Normalcy ‘Having been “snowed since March 15 with income tax re- ports filed by North Dakota citizens, the income tax department of the state tax commissioner's office is slowly returning to normalcy.
