Madge Runey and Nellie Evarts visited the school Tuesday afternoon. While driving into town Sunday evening Sam Conley was hit by an automobile going east near the penitentiary. Three. wheels were knocked off Mr. Conly’s car. Some of the occupants were thrown through the top but no one was injured. John Tuehrer and sons have added an office building to their garage and shop. The children of Mr. and Mrs. William Hughes, Sr. tendered to them a surprise party to commem- orate the fortieth anniversary of their married life. A sumptious dinner was served, old songs were sung and a poem was read that had been written by Mrs. C. D. for the occasion. Connly acted as parson and remarried the couple. He exacted from them promises to build fires, to wash, to get break- fast and other errands. Only old- timers were invited and the occasion ‘was an opportunity for them to get together and talk over what hap- med in the early days. Mr. and rs.
